Born in Lakenheath (Mildenhall Q1-1921 4A:1765) son of Fred and Maude Louise SIZER (née ALLSOP)

At High Street, Lakenheath in the 1939 register were his father Fred[13-11-1894] master butcher; his mother Maud L [2-6-1890] and cousin Mollie D [26-3-1930] later CARROLL and Gwendoline J LAY[21-8-1929] later FRENCH. (possibly an evacuee). There are 4 closed records, one being his sister Florence Maud.




The 2nd Cambridgeshires were defending Batu Pahat, on the Malay mainland about 35 miles north west of the island of Singapore. About to be cut off by a Japanese landing, they were ordered on 28th January 1942 to retreat to Johor Bahru to try and stop the Japanese from crossing to Singapore.
